As a litigator, Jeremiah Kelman gained extensive experience working on graphics and presentations for trials and arbitrations. In doing so, he realized that there was a need in the market for a higher level of design quality, strategy and advice. Mr. Kelman launched TrialEdge to leverage his background as a litigator and his previous experience as a graphic designer to help lawyers distill their legal arguments into persuasive presentations and graphics. As a consultant, Jeremiah leverages his legal expertise and background in graphic design to help lawyers maximize the effectiveness of their visual presentations to juries and judges. With over 17 years of combined litigation and trial consulting experience, Mr. Kelman is able to provide unique insights and guidance to TrialEdge’s clients.
Jeremiah earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California where he graduated Order of the Coif, served as the Executive Editor of the Southern California Law Review, earned the Arthur Manella Scholarship, and received the National Scribes Award (best law review note in the country for 2006). He later practiced as a litigator in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella from 2005 to 2012, where he gained experience in a wide range of commercial litigation matters before moving into legal technology and consulting.
Sarah Southwell has built a reputation as an expert in legal presentation design and consultation. She holds a B.A. in Graphic Design from Cal State Los Angeles, and her background in marketing gives her a unique perspective on how to effectively communicate complex legal concepts and narratives to a variety of audiences. With over 8 years of design experience, she has worked on more than 100 matters for both plaintiff and defense, and has a proven track record of creating persuasive and effective legal presentations.
As Director, Sarah manages the graphics team and workflow at TrialEdge, ensuring that clients receive exceptional service and results every time. She is dedicated to helping lawyers and legal teams develop the most effective and persuasive presentations possible, and is committed to providing the highest level of quality and service to each and every client.
Arbi Khodagholian is a senior litigation graphic artist based in Los Angeles, California. With over 18 years of experience specializing in litigation graphics, Arbi has worked directly with attorneys from numerous AmLaw 100 firms to develop trial presentations that communicate complex technical information into elegantly simple, impactful and persuasive visual designs.
He has worked on a wide variety of high profile matters including intellectual property and trade secret, breach of contract, toxic tort, pharmaceuticals, securities, and product liability litigation.
Janna McGuire is a senior member of TrialEDGE’s trial technician team with over 17 years of experience. As a member of dozens of trial teams, Janna has had the opportunity to work with some of the best lawyers and law firms in the nation on a wide range of legal matters. Janna's case experience includes products liability, complex commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense, medical malpractice, environmental, banking regulation, entertainment, and intellectual property matters. In addition to her trial technician experience, Ms. McGuire has been a project manager for several well-known eDiscovery processing companies as well as a litigation support manager and paralegal for large law firms.
Dan is a Trial Graphics Consultant at TrialEdge with over 8 years of experience in graphic design and marketing. He has previously worked across a wide variety of design disciplines a freelancer, specializing in marketing and data design.
Dan’s objective is to deliver modern and refined presentations that clearly communicate client goals and problem-solve efficiently. Dan holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University where he also studied Marketing and Advertising.
Melinda Bruce is a senior trial technician and graphics consultant with over 9 years of experience, who has supported over 100 cases at trial. Melinda has had the opportunity to work with top litigators at AmLaw 100 firms and premier boutiques on a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters. In addition to her technical experience, Ms. Bruce is a skilled designer with dual bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Design and Applied Design and Sciences from San Diego State University. Ms. Bruce is also a reservist with the US Army with Top Secret Clearance.
Liz Toccafondo has over 19 years of trial and technology consulting experience. Her career began at inData (the creator of TrialDirector) where she serviced as a national trial consultant. Liz is Trial Director certified and is experienced with a range of platforms, including OnCue and common litigation support software. LIz excels in the “hot seat” with a proven ability to focus on multiple deadline-driven tasks, and performs at a high level in the courtroom.
Thomas Almeida has over 15 years of experience as a trial technician and litigation consultant. He has supported over 1,000 cases and hot seated well over 100 trials running the gamut of size, complexity and subject matter.
Thomas’s deep experience with trial and court room technology allows him to jump into any situation and present evidence in a smooth, clear and compelling manner. His early career experience as a court reporter and litigation support technician provides him with an added wealth of expertise on a wide range of trial preparation logistics.
Julie is a Senior Trial Technician at TrialEDGE with over 17 years of experience in the field. She has been educated in court reporting since 1989 and was previously in the court reporting industry between 1990-2001. Since her first trial in 2001, Julie has worked on well over 100 trials, arbitrations, mediations, and mock trials. Some of Julie’s case experiences include complex, construction defect, business, family law, and contract. She has been dedicated to doing anything that will make a positive impact within the trial which includes, but is not limited to, assisting paralegals and attorneys.
Eric is a seasoned Trial Technician, serving on over 500 matters to date. He has been working in the legal industry for over 28 years with an expansive case history, primarily focused in big oil, personal injury, toxic tort, automotive, maritime, construction, and patent law. Eric has also served as a “shadow juror”, jury consultant and case strategist on multiple matters over the years. His work has taken him all over the country to serve on trials working in 43 of the 50 states.
